Sorry guys, this Tuesday I will not talk about awards, I will not talk about Academy Awards, I will not talk about some masterpiece or innovative screenplays.
Because something both great and orrible happened the last weekend in the cine-comics world: Hugh Jackman ceased to be Wolverine, after 17 years and 9 movies ( X-men (2000) ; X-Men 2 (2003); X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) ; X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) ; X-Men: First Class (2011) ; The Wolverine (2013); X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014); X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and LOGAN- The Wolverine (2017) ) the Australian quit the role of one of the most beloved, famous, badass charachter of the comics (and movies) history, with a performance that send him (and the movie, of course) right away to the Olympus of the Cine-comics next to Ledger’s Joker in “The Dark Knight” by Christopher Nolan and the Tony Stark/IronMan played by Robert Downey Junior in “Iron Man”, establishing a new quality record for the Marvel Universe Movies.
But Let me give you some infos about the movie which, obviously, I saw on the D1:
In a dystopic 2029 most of the mutant population has been eliminated, the X-Men group no longer exists and Xavier’s school for “talented youngs” has been destroyed as well. So what’s the destiny of our immortal hero? Logan, with his self-heal power, live as a limo-driver hoping to save enough money to buy a boat and run away from all the problems with his best friends: an old, drug addicted, paralytic, brilliant man with the most powerful brain in the world: CHARLES XAVIER (Patrick Stewart) AND an albino with a super-noise: Calibano (but no one cares about him so you can forget this name).
Well, Logan has never been lucky and this time to interrupt his peace (so to speak) is the discovery of the existence of a new-generation of Mutants.
I do not want to write more, because of course it’s my duty to avoid spoilers but the movie is well made, as I said, and I thought that was right to make a tribute to the man that was (for whom, like me, was a kid during the first years of 2000) and will be for ever the one and only: WOLVERINE.
Action, drama, blood and tears, friendship and love, everything you are looking for in a movie there will be in Logan, you have my word.
Thank you Hugh, see you, Old Man Logan.
